Loopring Bi-Weekly Update — 01/06/2019
Not too many updates this week, given we recently provided more comprehensive posts with the 2018 Retrospective, and 2019 Roadmap, and some details on Protocol 2.0 features.
Protocol
During the last few weeks we’ve been focusing on the development of Protocol 3.0. If you recall from our 2019 Roadmap, 3.0 represents the next step beyond the Loopring 2.0 series, and uses different, more ‘experimental’ methodology in attempt to achieve efficiencies that are orders of magnitude greater than current solutions. We’ve got some code up and running which we are using to study the behavior of our new approach for settling order rings. We are still early in the development process of 3.0 and will continue disclosing details in the coming weeks and months.
Relay
Lightcone (Relay 2.0)
Also mentioned in the Roadmap is how Relay 2.0 — Lightcone — is our top priority at the moment. Over the past two weeks, we have been improving and testing the core Relay module. We have completed optimizations for restoring the order book, updating the latest orders, along with other critical components. We have completed the testing of submitting rings to testnet. The gas consumption has also been substantially reduced. Based on this core module, we have been working on an interface for Ethereum event logs.
Frontend & Product
iOS & Android
In iOS and Android development, we have implemented a cryptocurrency news section which provides users with accurate, convenient and timely access to information, directly in-app. The news section includes three categories:
Newsletter: provides Chinese and English, with users able to upvote, downvote and share newsletters.
News: pertinent and leading news, with ads and unrelated information removed for improved reading experience.
Blog: users can read the latest blogs and updates from Loopring directly in-app.
This new feature will be included in version 1.6, which will be available for download in one week.
Furthermore, in the Android app, we have been implementing the market view using native Android SDK. We plan to launch the new market view in version 1.7, providing a much better user experience.
